I am in my first year of being a computer/photo journalism teacher and I thought I was setting my students up for succeeding within my lab with the tools we had for taking photos, for publishing, for developing and such. Now as I sit in this conference I am having an app realization that I need to begin to direct them towards the technology future with apps.
My mind is truly expanding with the possibility of using Game Salad in my class and iBuild app from the sessions I attended yesterday. I made three apps within three hours and I was out of my comfort zone. I know my students can achieve more than that and at more of a detailed level too. I cannot wait for my students to create and dig into having their own apps. The power they could hold! I am so excited to bridge gaps between content and elective standards in my classroom beyond what we are already doing with it now.
I never thought I would come away from this three-day conference with a deeper understanding of apps and how my students can own their learning with apps. I am so excited to get back into the classroom and beginning planning for next year with these tools.
